Description
These "feather rigs" from Japan are used to fish bait in streams. By fishing the rig with a tight line, you can quickly hook fish like trout before they swallow the hook. This is a very effective way to presenting bait naturally. It also gives you the ability to release fish safely, even when using bait.
Each rig comes equipped with highly visible markers to help you detect bites. Connect the rig to the lilian on your telescopic pole. Cast out with the weight of the provided split shot. Then follow the bait as it drifts with the current. Set the hook if you notice any movement in the markers.
This is somewhat similar to tenkara fishing, only with bait. In Japan, anglers typically use small worms, nymphs, or salmon eggs with these rigs. We've found they also work well with caddis larvae and artificial stoneflies too.
Line sizes use the Japanese "gou" system, which indicates diameter. The included light wire hooks are close to size 10 hooks in the US.
Each pack includes 2 full rigs and 4 hooks.
